Non-Clinical/Medical Experiences

Many of the core competencies are developed by interacting with groups, communities and activities outside of the field of medicine. Examples of non-clinical/medical experiences include student organizations, non-profit organizations, employment on or off campus, athletic commitments, hobbies, tutoring and more. The PMHSC expects each student to volunteer time with underserved populations in particular. There are many wonderful opportunities in and around Detroit, and throughout southeast Michigan. Some ideas of places to begin include:
