Warrior Way Back
Warrior Way Back is a groundbreaking program designed by Wayne State that offers debt forgiveness to returning students with an outstanding balance of $4,000 or less. If you have a balance that is preventing you from pursuing your degree at Wayne State, please apply to the Warrior Way Back program. Debt is forgiven over the course of four semesters, or when you graduate (whichever happens first).
How do I qualify for Warrior Way Back?
To qualify, you:
- Must have a Wayne State cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher
- Must owe a balance of $4,000 or less to Wayne State University
- Must not have enrolled in any class at Wayne State for the past two or more years.
- Must not have earned a bachelor's at any other institution
- Must have a current Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) on file
There is no limit to how many students may join the program.
How do I apply for Warrior Way Back?
There are three ways you can begin the application process.
- Apply to the Warrior Way Back program and make an appointment with the Warrior Way Back advisor.
- Attend an online information session.
- Attend an in-person, college-specific, one-stop event.
We recommend that you complete the application no later than three weeks before the start of courses for the semester in which you would like to return. You should also submit official copies of transcripts from any outside institutions at that time. In most situations, you can expect an email with the decision on your application within a week. Once you have been approved for Warrior Way Back, you will be notified by email and prompted to set an appointment with the Warrior Way Back advisor to complete the onboarding process.
