Checklist and deadlines

To transfer to Wayne State, you must have at least 24 transferable credits of previous college work and a minimum 2.5 combined, cumulative GPA from all higher education institutions you have attended.

  • If you have completed an associate degree, you may be admitted with a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or better.

  • If you plan to apply to a professional program such as nursing, social work, or pharmacy and health sciences, contact these programs individually for additional requirements.

Admission occurs on a rolling basis each semester prior to the start of classes.

First things first

  • Apply to Wayne State using the university application and submit the $25 application fee.

  • Submit copies of all transcripts to:

    You also may be able to submit your transcripts online.

  • You should receive an admission decision within two to three weeks after submitting your application or any outstanding materials.

If you plan to major in music, theatre or dance, be sure to schedule an audition with the department.

Application deadlines

Submit all application materials by the appropriate date, depending on the semester in which you plan to start classes:

  • Fall (Sept.–Dec.) — Aug. 15
  • Winter (Jan.–April) — Dec. 15
  • Spring/summer (May–Aug.) — April 1

Scholarship deadlines

If you want to be considered for a merit scholarship, be sure to complete your admission application by the appropriate deadline, depending on the semester in which you plan to start classes:

  • Winter 2023 semester: October 1, 2022
  • Fall 2023 semester: June 1, 2023
  • Winter 2024 semester: October 1, 2023

Enrollment deposit

When you accept your offer of admission, you must also submit a $50 enrollment deposit to secure your place at WSU. The deposit is nonrefundable after June 1 for transfer students.

AP, CLEP and IB credits

You may apply an unlimited number of AP, CLEP and IB credits — in any combination — toward your Wayne State degree.
