FAQs

How is athletic aid determined?

Award amounts are determined on an individual basis. A student-athlete must meet NCAA, conference and institutional regulations to be eligible for athletic aid. Coaches work with the Wayne State athletics compliance office to ensure all awards meet individual and NCAA team equivalency limitations.

Once a student-athlete accepts an award offer, the information is forwarded to the Office of Student Financial Aid to incorporate into the overall financial aid award package.

Can student-athletes receive aid in addition to athletic scholarships?

Yes! However, there are certain regulations, which must be followed.

The total amount of aid a student receives cannot exceed your financial aid cost of attendance (COA). The financial aid estimated cost of attendance includes the total cost of tuition and fees, room and board, books and supplies, transportation, and other educationally related expenses. This COA requirement is the same for all WSU students.

Your WSU COA will be adjusted to include your actual tuition and fee charges. Information on WSU's cost of attendance can be found at wayne.edu/financial-aid/resources/cost-of-attendance.
