Community Health (BS)
Achieving your goal of obtaining a four-year degree is attainable through the collaborative effort of Macomb and WSU. Begin your journey by earning an associate degree at Macomb, followed by a seamless transition to Wayne State for the completion of your bachelor's degree. Throughout this academic pursuit, you have the opportunity to embrace the diverse experiences and communities offered by both campuses.
What is Community Health?
The Bachelor of Science in Community Health prepares students for careers in the broad field of community health. Coursework includes training in health topics, intervention development and evaluation, health behavior theory, policy and teaching methods. The program also prepares students to take the Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES) exam, which is given by the National Commission for Health Education Credentialing, Inc. (NCHEC). This credential ensures that students are trained and qualified to plan and coordinate community health education programs.
What can I do with a Community Health Degree?
The B.S. in Community Health provides practical field experiences and experiential coursework to prepare students for employment in public or private agencies; local health departments; volunteer organizations; hospitals; health insurance companies; worksite/employee health promotion and wellness programs; and a variety of community-based organizations.

College of Education Scholarships
The College of Education awards hundreds of scholarships each year to undergraduate and graduate students alike, thanks to the generosity of private donors. To be considered for these scholarships, applicants must:
- Have a minimum GPA of 3.0 (graduate) or 2.5 (undergraduate)
- Be current or admitted student in the College of Education
- Some scholarships are reserved specifically for students with demonstrated financial need. To qualify for these scholarships, applicants must have a current FAFSA on file and complete an application through Scholarship Universe.

Get a jump-start on your Wayne State University classes while earning your associate degree at Macomb Community College with Wayne Advantage-Macomb. As a Wayne Advantage-Macomb student, you are admitted to Wayne State while enrolled at Macomb, which means you can take courses at one or both institutions in the same semester.

- Wayne State requires a minimum of 30 credits in residency.
- The pathway allows multiple associate degree options with the flexibility to customize your degree path. The minimum eligibility to participate in the Wayne State Transfer Pathways is a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or above, Michigan Transfer Agreement (MTA), and an associate degree (earned or Reverse Transfer). See transfer credit guidelines.
- All college-level (non-developmental), non-duplicated courses with a 2.0 (C) grade point average (GPA) or above will be considered for transfer credit. Earned credit will transfer as 1) direct course equivalency, 2) major/department credit, or 3) elective credit. Credits not earned at Macomb will need to be taken at WSU.
- These pathways do not replace the importance of Macomb and Wayne State academic advising. The pathway provides a general roadmap to degree completion.
