WSU Private Scholarships
We're redesigning our scholarship process to better serve our students' needs with AcademicWorks, WSU's new, interactive scholarship application.
The new scholarship application anticipated launch date is December 1.
What you can expect
We know finding and applying for scholarships is no easy task. With the new Wayne State University AcademicWorks system, the scholarship process has never been easier. Through AcademicWorks, you can view available scholarships you may be eligible to receive, complete scholarship applications, and more.
You will be matched with some of our scholarships automatically without having to fill out an application, but if you want maximum scholarship consideration, we encourage you to fill out a scholarship profile – we will have more details on how this process works on December 1.
These scholarships are administered by this office and are funded through the generosity of private donors. Awards may be based on a combination of the specific award criteria, including financial need, scholastic achievement or leadership qualities.
The application process
Any required supplemental material(s) must be submitted by March 1, 2018 for private award consideration.
When determining award recipients, students who complete a scholarship profile will be reviewed first. However, we reserve the right to consider any Wayne State University student who has successfully filed a FAFSA by March 1, 2018 in order to ensure donor requirements are met. Eligible students may be contacted if additional materials are required.
The number of qualified applicants for scholarships is far greater than the available funding. Not all qualified applicants will receive scholarships. The decisions of the scholarship committee are final.
Complete the FAFSA
Some of the awards are need-based, as determined by the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Your FAFSA must be successfully on file by March 1, 2018 with the WSU school code 002329 to be considered for those awards. The 2018-19 FAFSA is available now.
Need-based financial aid may be adjusted if you subsequently receive additional aid (scholarships, grants or loans). Private scholarship awards may reduce other WSU scholarships, grants, loan eligibilty or other aid.
