2 to 2:45 p.m.
Success Sessions I
Success Sessions are tailored to provide students, parents, and family members with information to support Warriors in the classroom and help build connections at WSU. Students will have the opportunity to attend two separate sessions during the program. This indoor session will require a face mask.

3 to 3:45 p.m.
Success Sessions II
Success Sessions are tailored to provide students, parents, and family members with information to support Warriors in the classroom and help build connections at WSU. Students will have the opportunity to attend two separate sessions during the program. This indoor session will require a face mask.

4 to 5:15 p.m.
"Speak About It" – Creating a Culture of Consent (General Lectures 100/150 & Virtually)

Speak About It is a session about consent, power, and holistic health. This presentation includes engaging, entertaining, and emotional discussions, written by a diversity of college students, that will jump start a conversation about identity, bystander intervention, race, ethnicity, mental health, drugs and alcohol, and other social factors about life on campus. This indoor session will require a face mask.

5:30 to 6:30 p.m.

Pete Thomas spent much of his childhood homeless, in foster care, and moving between 13 different cities by the time he was 13 years old as a result of his mother's serious mental illness. Despite their circumstances and Pete's minimal school attendance, he developed a love for reading such that, once he was taken in by relatives, he was able to excel as a student at Kettering High School on the east side of Detroit.

Pete is an author and has appeared nationally on ABC's 20/20 and The View. He has been featured in People Magazine and Runner's World, and has served as a contributor on "The Professionals Panel" on Live in the D on WDIV Channel 4 in Detroit. Pete Thomas is the CEO of Touch Point Systems, Inc., a software company in Ann Arbor, Michigan. As a professional speaker, certified Professional Life Coach and author, Pete teaches individuals to pursue purpose through personal transformation and self-mastery. This outdoor session will require a face mask.

6:30 to 8 p.m.
Dinner and Warrior Uproar (Tom Adams Field - WSU Athletic Campus)
This session is only offered in person.

Celebrate the beginning of your Wayne State career by having a picnic dinner and hang with our Wayne State student athletes. It's never too early to show some Warrior spirit and pride! This outdoor session will require a face mask.

8 to 11 p.m.
Evening Outdoor Movie (St. Andrew's Lawn)
This session is only offered in person.

The Campus Activities Team (CAT) will be sponsoring an optional evening outdoor movie of The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It. Come on out, bring a blanket, have some snacks and meet fellow Warriors as we wrap up the day. This outdoor session will require a face mask.

Tuesday, August 31, 2021

10 a.m.
New Student Convocation (Woodward | Warren Park)

Convocation is the formal welcome to the university. Parents and family members do not need to RSVP to attend with their new WSU Warrior, however, vaccines are required for all individuals. The ceremony celebrates the beginning of the class of 2025's academic career, held at the Woodward | Warren Park. Free parking will be in Structure 2. This outdoor session will require a face mask, and all attendees must be vaccinated to be on campus.

11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
FestiFall (Gullen Mall, Fountain Court and Keast Commons)
This session is only offered in person.

The FestiFall celebration will begin immediately following the ceremony on the Fountain Court area of Gullen Mall. During the event, students will have the opportunity to meet the Dean of their college or school. In addition, various learning communities, hundreds of student organizations, area community organizations, and many campus departments will also be hosting kick-off activities. Lastly, a picnic and refreshments will also be available free for all students and guests. This outdoor session will require a face mask, and all attendees must be vaccinated to be on campus.
