Adult Learners at Wayne State University

Welcome (back), Adult Learner Warriors!

At Wayne State, we understand that adult learners bring a wealth of experiences to the classroom, whether those are professional, personal, academic, or a combination of all three. Our goal is to help you pair those accomplishments with the campus resources you need to progress to graduation and beyond!

Who is an "adult learner"?

No two adult learners are the same. Some of our students have been away from Wayne State for 20 years, while others are embarking on their first WSU experience after getting started at a community college. Some students are mid-career professionals looking to advance in their fields, while others are considering a career change or entering the workforce for the first time. Some are parenting school-aged children and caring for their own aging parents, while others are empty nesters. Whatever your story, we see you and want to help!

The Adult Learner Success Team is dedicated to supporting students who are 25 and older and working on their first bachelor's degree. If you are a second bachelor's-degree earner, post-bac, or graduate student, we encourage you to connect directly with your academic department for support.

If you identify as an adult learner, please reach out to us to learn about how we can partner with you to map out a success plan and achieve your goals.
