Enrollment deposit

After you are admitted

Once you've received your admitted student package, you'll have a few more steps to finalize your enrollment. When you accept your offer of admission, you must also submit a $50 enrollment deposit that will secure your place at WSU. The enrollment deposit will be applied to your first semester tuition bill.

Enrollment deposit due date

Your enrollment deposit is due upon accepting your offer of admission. The deposit is nonrefundable after June 1 for first-year and transfer students.

Upon learning that FAFSA information will be delayed in reaching higher education institutions until mid-March, Wayne State made a decision to allow you more time to make a well-informed college decision. This is why we've extended our traditional May 1 deadline, for all fall 2024 admitted students, to June 1. Our commitment to educational access and student success is part of the fabric of our community. If you or your family have any questions as you navigate the enrollment process, please contact us. We are here to support you because Warriors help each other.

How will enrollment deposit funds be applied?

The deposit will appear as a credit on your student account and will be used to offset a portion of your tuition for the first semester.

Do I still have to pay the enrollment deposit if I qualify for financial aid?

Yes. However, students who have completed the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and have a zero Student Aid Index (SAI) qualify for an enrollment deposit deferment. The Office of Undergraduate Admissions will contact students who qualify for that deferment.

Once I accept my admission, how do I pay the enrollment deposit?

  • Log in to your application status portal and click on the "Enrollment Deposit - Submit Payment for 50.00 USD" link
  • Select your desired payment method and click "Continue Check-out"
    • You can also pay in person at the Cashier's Office in the Welcome Center

What happens if I don't pay the enrollment deposit?

Accepting admission and paying the enrollment deposit will secure your place in the incoming class. To register for New Student Orientation and sign up for classes, you must pay, or be eligible to defer, the enrollment deposit.

Will Wayne State accept partial payment of the enrollment deposit?

Wayne State will not accept a partial payment of the enrollment deposit.

What happens if I decide not to attend Wayne State after accepting my admission offer?

Please notify the Office of Undergraduate Admissions as soon as possible if you have decided not to attend WSU. The enrollment deposit is only refundable through the deposit due date. If you have already registered for classes and decide not to attend WSU, be sure to drop all of your classes. If you have not registered for classes and decide to attend WSU in the future, you will need to reapply for admission and meet the admission requirements and deadlines at that time, including payment of the enrollment deposit.
