Chemistry, the study of matter and its transformations, is central to all sciences. Because chemistry is so fundamental, it's important to most scientists and professionals including biologists, engineers, physicians, pharmacists, nurses, dentists, nutritionists, oceanographers and science teachers among others.
Wayne State University advantages

Completion of AURAK General Education Component satisfies WSU University General Education. All college-level courses with a 2.0 (‘C’) grade point average (GPA) or above will be considered for transfer credit. Earned credit will transfer as 1.) direct WSU course equivalency, 2.) chemistry (CHM) major/department credit, or 3.) elective credit.
Credits not earned at AURAK will need to be taken at WSU. All students must earn a minimum of 120 credits, including a minimum of 30 WSU credits in residency.

1 By the first semester of the senior year, the student must enroll for at least two credits in independent research (CHM 5999 or CHM 5998). The student must work under the direction of a faculty member of the Department of Chemistry. It is advised that the student consult with the faculty during the term prior to beginning work, in order to choose the area and staff member under whose direction this research will be carried out. After the project, the student must present a written report for approval by the Chairperson of the Department. With prior approval by the Chairperson of the Department, students may be allowed to substitute to 2 credits of an internship experience (CHM 6991) in place of a research project.
2 Bilingual Students: Students who were born in and completed their secondary education in a country whose language is not English may demonstrate proficiency by means of qualifying examinations or interviews administered by the Department of Classical and Modern Languages, Literatures, and Cultures. However, no credit (through coursework or by examination) will be granted to such students for 1000-level courses in that language.
