Biography:

Cheryl Kollin is Senior Director of the University Advising Center and has been part of student success at Wayne State University for nearly 30 years. In this role, she oversees academic advising for exploratory and pre-professional students, Warrior Way Back advising support, Wayne Advantage-Macomb advising support, Pre-Med and Health Science Center, Office of Military and Veterans Academic Excellence, New Student Orientation, and the Advisor Training Academy. Prior to assuming her leadership role, Cheryl was a generalist and pre-med academic advisor in the University Advising Center. Before beginning her career at Wayne State University, she was a counselor at West Shore Community College where she worked closely with at risk students defined by the TIP grant.

Cheryl is an active member in NACADA: The Global Community for Academic Advisors and the Michigan Academic Advising Association (MIACADA) where she has presented at both local and national conferences. In 2012, she received the Outstanding Academic Advising Administrator award for significant contributions to the improvement of academic advising within the state of Michigan.

She completed her Bachelor of Science in Legal Studies from Grand Valley State University, a Master of Arts in Counseling (higher education concentration) from Eastern Michigan University, and has enjoyed taking post-graduate classes in dispute resolution and instructional technology at Wayne State University.
