Music Education

The Music Education Learning Community will utilize peer mentors, study groups, social events, and community engagement. Specifically, we will: 1. Plan bi-weekly study groups led by peer mentors. This will give our peer mentors additional teaching experience while allowing them to share their experience and knowledge. An added benefit will be strengthening relationships between the older peer mentors and the younger students. 2. We will plan for once-a-month social events, assisted and potentially led by peer mentors. 3. Two additional events, one field trip/community engagement activity off-campus, and one guest speaker. The Music LC is embedded in the following courses: Instrumental Music in the Schools I Instrumental Music in the Schools II Vocal Music in the Schools I Vocal Music in the Schools II Introduction to Music Education General Music Education Woodwind Techniques and Pedagogy Strings Techniques and Pedagogy Brass Techniques and Pedagogy Percussion Techniques and Pedagogy Vocal Techniques and Pedagogy
