Academic Experience Details

College of Education

  • Find your Power and Strength!: Discover your abilities by participating in two of our research protocols. You will have the chance to measure your vertical jump height (anaerobic power) and handgrip strength using specialized sports performance research equipment. Interact with current undergraduate and graduate students who support Dr. Sullivan in the lab to gain insight into ongoing research projects and the lab's capabilities. This opportunity is ideal for those pursuing careers as physical therapists, occupational therapists, athletic trainers, or in kinesiology fields such as exercise physiology, ergonomics, and strength and conditioning.

  • So, You Want to Be a Teacher? Q & A with Students and Alumni: Join us for a question-and-answer session about coursework and campus life to lessons learned and living in the D. This is your chance to hear firsthand experiences from current students and alumni, ask questions, and get answers straight from those who've lived it. Come curious and leave inspired as you take the first step of your journey to a rewarding career in education.

  • Drop in Q&A with Engineering staff: Join us for a drop-in Q&A session at Wayne State's Fall Open House with the College of Engineering Student Services team. College of Nursing

  • Wayne State’s BSN programs prepare students to care for diverse urban populations. During this session, you’ll have the opportunity to tour our simulation lab and learn more about the nursing application process and curriculum.

Eugene Applebaum College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences

  • Learn about programs in Medical Laboratory Science, Mortuary Science, and Pathologists' Assistant by visiting the Mortuary Science Building. Information about other WSU Applebaum programs is available at the Academic Resource Fair.

Mike Ilitch School of Business

  • Experience the Mike Ilitch School of Business through our interactive tour and overview presentation where you'll discover cutting-edge programs, state-of-the-art facilities, and opportunities for hands-on learning, all designed to empower future business leaders.  Also, during your visit, take the opportunity to get your questions answered through an audience Q&A or during an informal chat with our academic advisors.

School of Social Work

  • Social Work Skills Lab: What exactly does a social worker DO, and what skills do they use to help people? To answer these questions, experience social work firsthand by attending the Wayne State School of Social Work’s ‘Social Work Skills Lab’! Join social work advisors as they lead students through hands-on learning opportunities that illustrate what social work looks like in the real world. At our Social Work Skills Lab, students will build their professional knowledge by engaging in entry level undergraduate simulation activities. If you are interested in the helping profession and want to experience what social work feels like, then our Social Work Skills Lab is the place to be.
