Katie Franklin joined the Wayne State community in August, 2022.
Before Katie began at Wayne, she worked for 5+ years with Detroit Mercy as a program manager and ESL instructor. She taught ESL classes and coordinated programs in Colombia in addition to teaching communication courses at Central Michigan University during her graduate career. Between graduate school and her career in Colombia, she was the administrative assistant to the director and the office manager at NIH’s Division of International Services.
Katie holds a teaching certificate from ACCREDITAT through WorldTeach’s TEFL Certification program. In 2015, she completed this yearlong program which included training, practicum, and teaching at Uniminuto in Zipaquirá, Cundinamarca, Colombia.
She has genuine enthusiasm in her work and supports all students in order for them to succeed at Wayne State and in their future careers. In her free time, Katie dances salsa and travels.
