Dr. Anita Mixon is a rhetorical scholar specializing in African American rhetoric and its role in advocating for social, economic, and cultural uplift. Her research examines strategies employed by Black speakers, writers, and activists throughout history to push for equality and community empowerment. Dr. Mixon's work illuminates how African American rhetorical traditions have shaped public discourse, policy, and social movements from the past to the present and her scholarship contributes to understanding rhetoric as a tool for social change within the African American community. Additionally, Dr. Mixon is committed to antiracist pedagogy, developing teaching strategies that foster inclusive, critically aware learning environments. Her work aims to bridge the gap between rhetorical studies and real-world applications in the pursuit of social justice.
