Rachel Pawlowski serves an Academic Advisor III for the Irvin D. Reid Honors College at Wayne State University in Detroit, MI. She has been working in higher education for 13 years and has been at WSU for 10 of those years. Rachel primarily works with first-year and second-year student programming within the Honors College as well as Honors College probation students. In addition to her role as an Academic Advisor at WSU, Rachel also serves as the coordinator for the Honors College Living Learning Community (LLC), Member-at-Large for the WSU Academic Senate, Chair of the Academic Staff Mentoring Committee (ASMC), and Chair for the Membership and Election Committee for the Academic Advising Council (AAC).
Rachel is actively involved in the Michigan Academic Advising Association (MIACADA), Region 5 for NACADA, as well as NACADA. She is a Past-President for MIACADA (2017-2020) and is the current co-chair for the MIACADA 2022 Annual Conference. Also, Rachel is the current Awards Chair for NACADA Region 5 and has served in this role for the past 3 years. Lastly, she serves on the Steering Committee for the NACADA Advising Community - Advising High Achieving Students. She has presented at both MIACADA and NACADA Region 5 conferences.
Rachel earned her BA in Psychology at Oakland University in 2003, her MA in Counseling at Oakland University in 2008, and her Educational Specialist Certificate from Wayne State University in 2018. Currently, she is pursuing her Ed.D in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies with a concentration in higher education at WSU.
