Bio Sketch:

Dr. Singh was born with Beta Thalassemia, which requires monthly blood transfusions every three weeks. As a child, he would often interact with patients with sickle cell disease and learned very early how painful the disease process was. This early exposure to painful disease processes was the catalyst for his interest in managing pain for at-risk populations. Furthermore, his frequent interactions with his own nurses caused him to pursue nursing as a career. He first started working as a registered nurse in the burn ICU and then surgical ICU at Detroit Receiving Hospital in 2010. He then became a nurse practitioner in 2016 and started working in the Pain Clinic at Trinity Health Ann Arbor Hospital and the Acute Pain Service at Beaumont Hospital, Dearborn, managing chronic, acute, cancer, surgical and sickle cell pain. He was chosen as a Robert Wood Johnson Future of Nursing Scholar and completed his PhD focusing on health disparities with African Americans with cancer pain. Dr. Singh has an extensive background in pain management and his research focus is on decreasing health disparities with at-risk populations.
