Dr. Smitherman is a board-certified pediatrician who has been practicing in the Detroit Community for 30 years. She provides health care to infants, children, adolescents and youth, from birth to 22 years of age. She treats common illnesses and conditions, monitors for patterns that may require additional evaluations and recommends preventative vaccines and routine testing. She also partners with specialists to support your child’s overall care, making referrals when appropriate and utilizing telehealth to help improve access when needed. Dr. Smitherman also coordinates care for children with special health care needs including coordinating care among specialists, prescriptions for medications and medical equipment.
In her spare time, Dr. Smitherman enjoys reading, especially fiction, crocheting, and aerobic dance.
