What is Flywire, and is it safe to use?

Flywire is a secure and convenient way to make international payments to Wayne State University.  Flywire allows you to track your payment online from start to finish, 24/7 multi-lingual customer support, and access to competitive exchange rates.

How do I make an international payment with Flywire?

  • From your Student Account Dashboard Checkout select payment option International Payment
  • Then click on continue
  • This will automatically redirect you to the Flywire website
  • Select the country and amount you would like to pay make
  • Click on Next
  • Select your preferred payment method
  • Enter the payer's information and agree to the Terms of Use and Privacy Policy, and click on Next
  • Enter Student Information and click on Next
  • Review and confirm payment information
  • Click on Pay
  • Follow payment instructions

Once the international payment is initiated, is there a delay until the Flywire payment will post to the student account?

Yes, Flywire will not initiate posting until payment is received from your home bank.  Please allow 2-4 business days to see the payment posted to your student account. 

Is there a fee to use Flywire?

The exchange rates you may find online are mid-market rates, which are not available to individuals.  Instead, mid-market rates are the published rates for currency purchases for large volume traders.  Please contact Flywire's customer service team with any pricing concerns.  If you found a lower rate with your local bank transfer payments,  Flywire offers a best rate guarantee that will match your bank's offer.
