Steps to apply

To help you make a smooth transition, here are some simple steps to keep in mind through the application process. 

  • Contact the Transfer Student Success Center

    Planning your college path may seem complex, but it doesn't have to be. Our Transfer Student Success Center staff will help you understand your options, plan your next steps and support you through your transition. Contact the Transfer Student Success Center today! 

  • Review transfer eligibility

    Before applying to Wayne State, please confirm that you meet the following requirements:

    • You must have at least 24 transferable credits of previous college work and a minimum 2.5 combined, cumulative GPA from all higher education institutions you have attended. 
    • If you have completed an associate degree, you may be admitted with a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher. 
    • If you plan to apply to a professional program such as nursingsocial work, or pharmacy and health sciences, contact these programs individually for additional requirements.

And our course equivalency tool can help you know how many credits Wayne State will provide for classes you've already taken. 

  • Apply to Wayne State University

    Use the university application and submit the $25 application fee.

    Submit copies of all official transcripts to:

    You may also be able to submit your official transcripts online. If you plan to major in musictheatre or dance, be sure to schedule an audition with the department. 

    Application deadlines

    Submit all application materials by the appropriate date, depending on the semester in which you plan to start classes:

    • Fall  — Aug. 15
    • Winter  Dec. 15
    • Spring/summer — April 1

    You should receive an admission decision within two to three weeks after submitting your application or any outstanding materials. You can also track your own admission status online.
