Transfer Merit Scholarships

Awards for incoming students

WSU offers various merit scholarships to qualified incoming transfer students who are currently enrolled at a community college and who have not yet completed a bachelor's degree. If you want to be considered for a merit scholarship, be sure to complete your admission application by the appropriate deadline, depending on the semester in which you plan to start classes.

For maximum scholarship consideration, incoming students must complete the undergraduate admission application (including submission of all transcripts) by:

  • Winter 2020 semester: October 1, 2019
  • Fall 2020 semester: June 1, 2020
  • Winter 2021 semester: October 1, 2020

Scholarships are available to qualified incoming transfer students who are currently enrolled at a community college. Students who were enrolled at a community college within one of the two semesters prior to their anticipated starting term at Wayne State University also are eligible.

Credits can be earned at one or more community colleges, but the combined cummulative college GPA must meet set requirements. To be considered for a community college transfer scholarship, you must have the following minimum criteria by the scholarship deadline:

  • A minimum of 30 transferable credits
  • A minimum cumulative GPA of at least 3.25

You may receive only one merit award. The sum of all aid received cannot exceed the student's financial aid cost of attendance (COA).
