Crockett-Lumumba Scholars/African American Studies First-Year Interest Group

About us

Our FIG, which is an entry point for the four-year Crockett-Lumumba Scholars Program, "seeks to turn thinkers into fighters and fighters into thinkers." It is designed for students with an interest in African American studies as well as a commitment to fighting against structural racism and making the world a better, more equitable place for everyone. All students who share these commitments regardless of major are encouraged to join. Those who complete the program will receive a minor in African American Studies as well as coordinated support.

First-Year Interest Groups (FIGs) are offered to incoming undergraduate students.
