Tonya Whitehead (en5364)
Hi, I am Tonya Whitehead; I’ve been the Associate Director of the Office for Teaching and Learning (OTL) since 2018. My position involves collaborating with colleges and departments across campus and overseeing the programming the OTL offers to ensure that we meet the needs of all instructors at WSU. But the best part of my job is connecting directly with faculty. I enjoy working with large lecture faculty to expand the active learning and evidence-based pedagogy on campus that supports student success.
As a Computer & Biomedical Engineer, I also have a deep passion for STEM, specifically engineering education. That passion has led me to test specific teaching innovations in my courses in the College of Engineering, the results of which I presented at meetings of the American Association of Engineering Education (ASEE). I hope my work not only improves outcomes for my students, but also inspires other faculty to explore the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning.
When I’m not working at the OTL, I enjoy camping and games with a close-knit group of friends. At home, I take care of a dog, cat, snake, fish, and snail and foster other dogs looking for a permanent home.
