DETROIT - About 120 incoming second- and third-year students rooted for the home team and mingled with legal professionals Thursday, Aug. 15, at Wayne State University Law School's fourth annual Evening at the Ballpark with Wayne Law.
The students met judges and lawyers from 60 firms, and all enjoyed a picnic-style buffet dinner and watching the Detroit Tigers beat the Kansas City Royals from the Pepsi Picnic Porch overlooking right field at Comerica Park. About 250 people were there for the event, cheering when Wayne Law Dean Jocelyn Benson threw out the first pitch.
U.S. District Judge Gerald Rosen brought Detroit Symphony Orchestra Conductor Leonard Slatkin to the event, and both men talked with students and attorneys during the evening. Wayne Law's Career Services Office organized the annual outing, which was sponsored by the law firms of Butzel Long; Brooks Kushman; Dykema; Honigman; Jaffe Raitt; Varnum; Warner Norcross & Judd; and Young Basile.
