Wayne State to continue 30 percent spring/summer tuition discount

Undergraduate students who complete at least 24 credits between fall 2017 and winter 2018 may be eligible for a 30 percent discount on tuition for spring/summer classes, providing families with tremendous financial savings while keeping students on track to complete their studies faster.

To be eligible for the discount, students must have registered for and be slated to complete the 24 credits between fall and winter, and have a cumulative grade point average of 2.5 at the end of fall 2017.

Registration for winter classes is underway, but there is still time to add courses to ensure that a student achieves the minimum 24 credit hours required for the 30 percent discount.

The Spring/Summer Tuition Break was introduced in 2015 to encourage students to complete more credits each academic year and get closer to graduation. The discount benefits students who choose to take fewer than 15 credits each term but make up the difference in the spring/summer to stay on target to earn their degree in four years. Additionally, the discount helps students who want to graduate quickly and take more than the traditional 30 credit hours each academic year.

In either case, the financial savings is undeniable.

Spring/summer courses fill quickly, so students are encouraged to meet with their advisor to determine eligibility and to plan their academic schedule. The spring/summer schedule is available online, and priority registration opened Feb. 5.
