Wayne State president to go on cycling tour

Road Warrior Wayne State University President M. Roy Wilson will embark on a three-city, four-day Road Warrior cycling tour that will take him to St. Clair on Aug. 1, Midland on Aug. 2 and DeWitt on Aug. 3, before returning to campus on Aug. 4. He will have cycled more than 400 miles by the time the tour is complete.

In each community, there will be a chance for local citizens to meet the president, learn more about Wayne State and share their perspectives and outlooks.

“I’m really looking forward to meeting alumni, students and citizens at each of the three destinations,” Wilson said. “Our goal is to meet new people and have a candid and open conversation. I’m open to any topic, but I’m hoping to talk about higher education, Wayne State and the role we play in educating students, doing research and strengthening Michigan’s economy.”

The president will cycle to each community, where he will host an informal forum with light food and beverage. “I’ll be getting a great workout on the bike, but I’ll also have time to think about what I’ve heard, what we’ve learned, and how Wayne State can better serve these communities.”

Each event is free and open to the public and will include complementary food and beverages.
