Paint the town green and gold

Dig out your painting clothes, start planning a Warrior masterpiece and bring your creativity to the Matthaei — the annual Paint the Spirit Walk competition has begun.

WSU Athletics invites all campus groups — including student organizations and athletic teams — and individuals to share their Warrior pride and paint a square on the Spirit Walk, the sidewalk on the athletic campus between the Matthaei Physical Education Center and the softball field, leading up to Adams Stadium.

Athletics will provide all participants with basic paint supplies and paint, and all squares must be completed for judging by April 21.

A panel of judges — including WSU administrators, coaches, faculty and staff — will select three outstanding squares as winners. The winners, who will be announced on April 24, will receive:

  • First prize: $500
  • Second prize: $250
  • Third prize: $175

Anyone interested in painting a square must first register and have their artwork approved by Athletics.
