Camera provides around the clock view of the Mike Ilitch School of Business building construction

Anyone interested in learning more about the Wayne State University Mike Ilitch School of Business’ new building can now check the construction progress anytime — night or day. On March 22, a webcam was activated that records the construction progress. It can be accessed at districtdetroit.com/bschool. Time-lapse video is also available.

The building — which will be located on the southwest corner of Woodward Avenue and Temple in The District Detroit — will be the new home of the Ilitch School. The project was made possible by a $40 million gift from the late Mike Ilitch and his wife, Marian. It is the largest gift in the university’s history and one of the 10 largest ever to name a public business school in the United States.

While it won’t be completed until spring 2018, there is already a great deal of excitement about the new facility.

“There is a lot of buzz among our faculty and students about the new building and how it will allow us to expand our curriculum,” said Robert Forsythe, dean of the Ilitch School. “The webcam allows us to literally watch history being made as the hardworking construction crews bring our new home to life.”

Live webcams of other projects in The District Detroit — including construction of Little Caesars Arena and the Little Caesars World Headquarters campus expansion — can be viewed at districtdetroit.com/live-web-cam.
