We know driving to, from, and across campus can be costly. These resources are designed to shave time (and money) off your commute.
Detroit Department of Transportation: The Detroit Department of Transportation (DDOT) operates buses in the city of Detroit and some suburbs. Individual fares are determined by DDOT and passes are available at a variety of locations. Select bus passes are sold at the WSU Bookstore Customer Service Center.
QLine: M-1 RAIL owns and operates the QLINE, a 6.6-mile circulating streetcar loop serving 12 locations on Woodward Ave. from Downtown Detroit through Midtown, New Center and the North End.
Vanpooling by the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT): Vanpooling is a more formal arrangement between 5 to 15 people to share a ride to work using a van supplied by the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT). This program is administered through MichiVan, who fully insures, registers and maintains the van. Riders pay a monthly fee depending on how many people ride in the van and how many miles are traveled to work. One person agrees to be the driver, MichiVan certifies that this person is qualified, and the driver rides for free (no monthly fee). Up to five alternate drivers are allowed per vanpool.
Wayne State's Carpool Matching Site: Ridesharing is another term for carpooling and vanpooling. Carpooling is an informal agreement between two or more people to share a ride to work. You can carpool one day a week or five, share driving responsibilities or not, etc. The arrangement is between you and your fellow carpoolers. Try Wayne State's Carpool Matching Site (the password is: gullen).
WSU Free Shuttle Service: Wayne State University will offer three (3) complimentary campus shuttles; Main Campus, Medical Campus, and Mike Ilitch School of Business Express shuttles that allow you to park your car and still get from one side of campus to the other by simply flashing your OneCard. Shuttles are free for all WSU students, faculty and staff.
WSU Reduced Fee Lots: WSU offers reduced parking fees on the outer perimeter of the Wayne State campus for students, faculty and staff who prefer to pay lower rates than closer locations.
