Aid and Wayne Advantage-Macomb
In the Wayne Advantage-Macomb program you can start your Wayne State University degree at Macomb Community College (MCC).
Participating students will be admitted to Wayne State University. You will be able to participate in campus activities and utilize all university academic resources. Get a head start on your WSU degree. Apply to the Wayne Advantage-Macomb program through the WSU Undergraduate Admissions Office.
Remember to file an annual FAFSA and include our school code 002329. Verify that the courses you take at Macomb Community College will count toward your degree program at WSU by reviewing the transfer plans on our website.
WSU will process your financial aid
WSU will process your federal financial aid application and award federal aid based on your combined enrollment and the information you supply on your FAFSA. A form is not needed. We will receive information on your enrollment directly from Macomb Community College.
You must be fully admitted to the program by the admission deadline dates in order to be considered for aid for the semester. When registering for courses, keep in mind that you can only receive financial aid for transferrable courses that are applicable to your WSU degree program.
The financial aid you receive will be used to pay your tuition and fees for courses you take at Wayne State University. Remaining funds will be refunded to you to use to pay your charges for the courses you attend at Macomb Community College. WSU will not disburse financial aid directly to Macomb Community College.
Aid for MCC courses will not disburse until after the WSU census date provided your enrollment has been confirmed by MCC and grades from the prior term have been reviewed and it is determined that you meet SAP standards. Financial aid disbursement and refund information is available on the Office of Student Financial Aid website at https://wayne.edu/financial-aid/receiving/refunds.
Withdrawal from all classes may result in a balance due on your student tuition account.
Satisfactory academic progress
Macomb Community College will share enrollment and academic information with WSU. Satisfactory Academic Progress will be monitored according to the policies at WSU. Credits attempted and earned at MCC will be used in the calculation to determine your pace and timeframe status. Only the grades you earn at WSU are used to determine your GPA status.
Financial aid will not be disbursed until all grades have been reviewed and you have been determined to meet SAP standards.
TIP program
WSU is a TIP Phase II school. You will not be able to use TIP Phase I benefits as a student in the Wayne Advantage-Macomb program.
Scholarship and WSU grant eligibility
In order to receive a freshman WSU scholarship, you must enroll for at least 12 or more credits at WSU your first semester. After your first semester, you may receive an award proportional to your enrollment at WSU. If you are admitted as a transfer student, you may receive an award proportional to your enrollment at WSU.
Scholarships awarded by one institution may only be applied to tuition, fees and other expenses at the institution that made the award. The combined passed hours and the WSU cumulative GPA will be used to determine eligibility for renewal. Eligibility will not be extended beyond the original terms of the award.
