May Commencement

Wayne State University confers degrees for Fall, Winter and Spring/Summer semesters and honors its graduates by hosting Commencement ceremonies in December and May. The ceremonies are for students completing degrees only - Ph.D., Ed.D., Doctoral, Master's and Bachelor's.

If appropriate deadlines are met, students completing their degree requirements in one of the following semesters may participate in the May 2019 Commencement ceremonies:

 Winter 2019
 Spring/Summer 2019

All Ph.D./Ed.D. candidates must check with the Graduate School or the College of Education for the exact requirements needed to complete in order to participate in the May Commencement ceremonies. 

Spring/Summer Ph.D. candidates are not eligible to participate in the May Commencement ceremonies.


May 2019 Commencement
The Fox Theatre - 2211 Woodward Ave, Detroit, MI 48201

The May 2019 Commencement ceremonies will be held at the Fox Theatre on Thursday, May 2 at 9 a.m.,
2 p.m. and 7 p.m. and Friday, May 3 at 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. All ceremonies will be held at the Fox Theatre, 2211 Woodward Avenue, Detroit. Doors will open 90 minutes before each ceremony. Ceremonies will last approximately two hours. The complete ceremony schedule is listed below.

Thursday, May 2

Ph.D. and Ed.D. candidates will participate with their respective school or college ceremony.

Irvin D. Reid Honors College students participate with their respective school or college.

Participating in the commencement ceremony does not constitute graduation or indicate that you have successfully completed your degree requirements. Please check with your academic advisor to be certain all degree requirements have been completed. The Commencement Offices does not have access to student records and are unable to answer questions regarding the completion of degree requirements.
