May Commencement


The May 2018 Commencement ceremonies will be held on Tuesday, May 8, at 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. at Ford Field, 2000 Brush St., Detroit, Michigan.

Wayne State University confers degrees at these ceremonies for graduates from the Winter and Spring/Summer semesters. The ceremonies are for students completing degrees only — Ph.D., Ed.D., Doctoral, Master's and Bachelor's. Please note: Spring/Summer Ph.D. candidates are not eligible to participate in the May Commencement ceremonies.

Ceremony schedules

Ceremony I: 10 a.m.

  • College of Liberal Arts and Sciences
  • School of Information Sciences
  • College of Nursing
  • Eugene Applebaum College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences
  • School of Social Work

 Ceremony II: 4 p.m.

  • Mike Ilitch School of Business
  • College of Fine, Performing and Communication Arts
  • College of Education
  • College of Engineering
  • School of Medicine (Ph.D./Master's)

Doors to Ford Field will open two hours before each ceremony at 8 a.m. and 2 p.m. Each ceremony will last approximately two hours.

Note: Walking in Commencement does not constitute graduation or guarantee that you will receive your diploma. Check with your school or college advisor to confirm that all graduation requirements have been met.
