Apply for graduation/degree

One of the last steps you will need to take before receiving your degree, and to participate in the commencement ceremony, is to apply for graduation. All degree candidates must apply to have their degrees certified and to be eligible to participate in Commencement.

You must apply for graduation in Academica by the end of the fifth week of classes in the semester you plan on graduating. (Please see the Application Deadline Dates below.)

To submit an application, log into Academica, click on the "Student" tab and select "Apply for Degree or Cerftificate" from the Student Records menu. It is imperative that you complete the entire application, finalize payment (if applicable) and click on the "submit" button or your application will not be processed. A confirmation page will be sent to your WSU email address within 24 hours of submitting an application.

There is a $40 non-refundable graduation fee for some students that must be paid before your application for degree certification can be considered. You will be prompted if payment is due. Payment must be made at the time of application either by credit card or electronic check. If you are currenly registered, you may also choose to add the fee to your student account. NOTE: You will have to apply and pay the $40 fee agaain if you do not complete your degree requiremens in the term of application so please make sure to check with your advisor before applying.

You will not have to pay the $40 if you've paid the $250 matriculation fee that was instituted in 2014 for new students to the university.
