Parent PIN setup

Creating a parent PIN on Wayne State University’s online tuition payment system

The parent PIN functionality of WSU’s online payment system allows a student to assign a parent or authorized person to make payment on the student’s WSU student account. Students set up parent PINs by accessing the online payment system through Academica. CASHNet Smartpay is a secure payment system that maintains separate payment methods for students and parents. That is a payment method saved by a student cannot be accessed by the parent and vice versa.

To set up a parent or authorized person PIN:

  • Log in to Academica using your AccessID and password
  • Click on "Student Resources" and then "Online Payments"
  • Click on "Make an online payment"
  • Click on “Your Account”
  • Under the Parent PIN header, click on “Add New”
  • Create a username for the parent or authorized person
  • Input the parent or authorized person's email address
  • Click “yes” for the question “Can this person login?”
  • Click on “OK”

To reset a parent or authorized person's password:

  • Log in to Academica using your AccessID and password.
  • Click on "Student Resources" and then "Online Payments"
  • Click on “Make an online payment”
  • Click on “Your Account”
  • Under the Parent PIN header, click “Edit”
  • Click on “Reset Password”

Note: When a student resets a parent or authorized person's password, any saved payment methods that user has stored on the system will be removed. This is to prevent the student from gaining access to use those saved payment methods.
