March 18 2010
In ancient times, the chair was reserved for the high and mighty. Only pharaohs kings, lords and bishops were allowed chairs. The rest of the populace had to make do with sitting on chests, benches or stools. Chairs were reserved and reflected the status of the person sitting in them.
In this project, ordinary chairs are used as a material in order to create a sculpture. Through the process of creating sculpture, the chairs are once again made extraordinary.
