The Student Service Center is a one-stop shop created to answer questions for students, parents and anyone interested in Wayne State University.  We offer assistance with:

  1.  When can I fill out the Spring-summer 2016 loan request form?  The Spring-summer 2016 loan request form is now available on the website: https://wayne.edu/financial-aid/applying/spring-summer/
  2. How can I apply for the Spring-summer Tuition Discount? No application is needed! As long as you meet the criteria on http://wayne.edu/tuition the Office of Student Financial Aid will put your award on close to the start of spring semester.
  3. When will financial aid packages be done for 2016-17? Incoming Freshman are now packaged, the Office of Financial is working on the rest of the awards over the next several weeks.

  4. When will spring/summer financial aid and tuition discounts pay to my spring/summer bill?  We will begin applying aid to student account balances for students attending the following semesters:  Spring 2016 semester - Tuesday, May 3 - Summer 2016 semester - Thursday, June 23  - Law School summer semester - Monday, May 16.  If you enroll in a later starting course, funds will not disburse until at least 10 days prior to the start of class. If you enroll only in a shortened module course, your cost of attendance and awards may be adjusted.  Students will begin receiving semester refunds the first week of classes. ​If you add a class after your aid is refunded, remember to pay your balance before late fees are charged.
  5. I graduate this winter term. When will i receive my diploma?  The Colleges have until June 1st to certify degrees. You will receive an email that your degree has been posted. Once this happens your transcripts will reflect that your degree has been awarded and can be requested through Academica. Diplomas are mailed 5-7 days after a degree has been certified. It can then take a week or so in the mail until you receive your dipolma.

If you are a student that has attended WSU since 2006, you may order a transcript through your Academica account. It’s the fastest and easiest way to request a transcript.     3. Enter the name of the person or institution you want your transcript sent to in the "Issue to" field. Select the "Continue" button to proceed to the next page.

      • "Transcript Sent by Email"
      • "School Med Web ERAS Official"
      • "Transcript Sent by US Mail" - Enter the complete mailing address. This includes the Street Address, City, State, and Zip Code. Select "Continue" to proceed to the next page. (Please note: If you enter in an email address, a transcript will be emailed to that address even if you select "US Mail" transcript.)
    5. Indicate the number of copies you would like to order in the box provided
    6. Select "Yes" if you would like an Official Transcript. Select "No" for a Student Copy.
    7. Review the accuracy of your request. Select "Submit Request" to have your request processed.
E-mailing documents to Financial Aid and Admissions

Many students and parents like the ease of scanning and emailing documents, but there are a few things you should know to make the process fast and efficient.

  1. If you choose to scan and email a document to studentservice@wayne.edu please use the subject line, "Document Attached" so we can quickly get the document transferred to the correct office.
  2. We cannot accept documents signed with a computer stylus and typed signatures. If a document requires a signature, you must ink sign the document and scan it before you email it to us.
  3. We cannot accept scanned Master Promissory notes for loans. Wayne State must receive the ink signed originals.
  4. Official transcripts are those issued directly by your previous institution to Wayne State. They can be accepted by email ONLY if they are sent through an electronic service directly from the school to Wayne State. Wayne State cannot accept transcripts sent from students by mail or email. Mailed copies of transcripts, which must come directly from the school, should be sent to:

  5. If you have a nine-digit student ID, write it in the upper left hand corner of the document.
30 percent discount on summer classes for some students
Attending class year-round not only makes graduation arrive sooner but also helps students save money. This award allows undergraduate students to qualify for a 30 percent tuition discount toward spring/summer classes. To be eligible, students must have registered and be on track to complete 24 credits between Fall 2015 and Winter 2016, and must have a cumulative grade-point average of at least 2.5 at the end of Fall 2015.  
 
Post-bachelor students may qualify if they meet requirements. Please note that the Spring/Summer Tuition Break cannot be combined with other tuition discounts (including employee and dependent discounts, senior citizen discounts and the Great Lakes Award) and will be applied as a financial aid award, which may affect a student’s spring/summer federal and institutional aid.

No. You are not required to apply to receive the discount. Students who meet the eligibility will automatically receive the discount.
 
What does the discount apply to?
The discount is 30 percent off tuition rates. It does not include fees.

We want you to be successful.  Completing a SMART Check information session is mandatory if you are intending to withdraw from a course. However, if you want to know how a course withdrawal might affect you academically and financially, you can complete a SMART Check at any time.

During your visit, you will meet with an enrollment management representative and learn about how withdrawing from a course will specifically impact you, both academically and financially. You will receive personalized information to help you make an educated decision.

The Spring/Summer Online SMART Check are open.

How to obtain a WSU Transcript and/or an Enrollment Verification

How can I order my transcripts? Ordering an official transcript has become easier than ever!  How can I get an Enrollment Verification?

Did you know you can print your Enrollment Verification Certificate from your Academica account? It’s as easy as 1-2-3!

  1. Log in to your Academica account at a.wayne.edu
  2. Click on Student Resources > Registration > Enrollment Verification
  3. Select the enrollment you would like verified and click on "Obtain an enrollment certificate"

The National Student Clearinghouse works in cooperation with Wayne State University to provide Enrollment Verification Certificates free of charge to our students. You can trust it. It’s the nation’s trusted source for education verification. By using this service, you can save yourself a visit to our office!

Come on over — we’d love to show you around! We offer individual walking tours to students and their families, as well as groups of six or more people.  A current WSU student will lead your tour and give you an insider’s look at campus and academic life. Your Warrior Guide will answer any questions you have about Wayne State, and an admission counselor will talk about what it takes to be admitted to the university.

Campus Walking Tours

Your time on campus will start with a short informational session led by an admission counselor who will share information about the admissions process and academic programs. Then a current student will lead you on a guided walking tour to visit places such as the Student Center Building, Recreation and Fitness Center, Undergraduate Library, residence halls, and classrooms. Tours depart from the Welcome Center and last approximately 90 minutes. Visitor parking is available in Structure 6 and costs a maximum of $10 per day — both cash and credit/debit cards are accepted.

Group Walking Tours

Wayne State offers tours for groups of six or more people, middle school aged and up.  To begin scheduling your group’s visit, submit your request at least two weeks in advance. The Campus Tour Coordinator will follow up with you to confirm your tour and assist in making arrangements to best fit your needs. All group tours must have one adult chaperone for every twenty students. Chaperones are required to accompany the group at all times.

Campus tours are led by Warrior Guides who are current WSU students. Groups will visit places such as our Student Center Building, Recreation and Fitness Center, Undergraduate Library, classrooms, and residence halls. Tours last approximately 90 minutes.

How to pay the Enrollment Deposit

New Freshman and Transfer Students, now that you have been admitted to Wayne State, and you are thinking about registering for Orientation, it's time to pay your Enrollment Deposit.

You can pay the deposit by:
  • Logging in to your application status page at appstatus.wayne.edu and clicking on, Pay "Enrollment Deposit".
  • Select your method of payment
  • Continue Checkout

After you pay your Enrollment Deposit, you will be able to sign up for Orientation.

How do I pay my application fee?

You can pay the application fee by online by logging back into your application. You should have an email from admissions which contains this information.  If you use Gmail or Yahoo, the email may be in your promotions tab.

  • Go to appstatus.wayne.edu and log into your application
  • Use your Wayne State Login (AccessID or temporary WebID) and your password to access the system. 
  • In step 2 under “More Info” you will see a link to make your payment.

How do I know if I have submitted my Undergraduate Admission Application?

  • The Office of Student Financial Aid is busy getting ready for Spring/Summer awaring and the 2016-17 award year.  
  • The 2016-2017 FAFSA is available. Wayne State will package financial aid awards in early April and make them available on Academica.
Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) every year to apply for financial aid, including grants, loans and work-study. Having the following information and forms on-hand will help you fill out the FAFSA:
  • Your Social Security Number (can be found on Social Security card)
  • Your driver’s license (if any)
  • W-2 Forms for the previous year and other records of any money earned
  • Your (and/or your parents’) most recent Federal Income Tax Return (if any) — IRS Form 1040, 1040A, 1040EZ, foreign tax return, or tax return for Puerto Rico, Guam, American Samoa, the U.S. Virgin Islands, the Marshall Islands, the Federated States of Micronesia

How to Order an IRS Tax Transcript by Mail

  • The online IRS "Get Transcript service" is currently unavailable. Transcripts may still be ordered using the Get Transcript by Mail service. 
  • Go to the IRS Get Transcript website: http://www.irs.gov/Individuals/Get-Transcript
    • Click on "Get Transcript by MAIL"
    • You will be asked information to verify your identity
    • Under "Type of Transcript" choose, "Return Transcript"
    • Under "Tax Year" select 2014 for verification of fall 2015 - winter 2016 FAFSA's
    • You will receive the message, "We have accepted your request for a 2014 Return Transcript . Please allow 5-10 days to receive it. The transcript will be sent to the address we have on file for you.", when you have successfully completed the request.

Refunds, Holds and the MyWSU Card
Refunds - The winter billing due date was December 15th late payment fees for winter will be put on accounts 01/21/2016.  You must be making Satisfactory Academic Progress for your aid to pay to your student account. Students will begin receiving semester refunds the first week of classes.

Wondering why you have a financial hold?  
Holds come from a variety of offices at Wayne State University. Save time and look up the contact information for your particular hold. A hold can only be lifted by the Office or Department who placed the hold on your account..
  • You can check the type of hold on your account using Academica.
    • Click Student Resources> Student Records> Holds
  • Check to make sure you have accepted your financial aid.
    • You can see your accepted financial aid on Academica.

  1. Select “Award by Aid Year” and choose the “2015-16 Award Year”
  2. Review the awards offered to accept all or a portion or decline the awards. Select “Submit Decision” when finished. .
  3. Review any new Financial Aid Eligibility Requirements tied to the acceptance of awards.
  • Check to make sure you do  not have unsatisfied student requirements
  • In order to avoid a late payment fee, financial aid recipients must pay any difference between their awards and their tuition assessment by the end of the first week of classes. Students who do not make the required payment will have a hold placed on their records.

    2. Click Student Resources> Financial Records> Bill/Account Summary

1098-T forms

Students who do not file U.S. tax returns do not need to take any actions.

  • 1098-T - WSU is preparing to print IRS 1098-T forms for 2014 and cannot generate a form without your taxpayer identification (social security) number.
  • To update your social security number, you will need to complete and return IRS Form W-9S along with a copy of your social security card and a picture ID (i.e. one card, driver's license, passport, etc.) to a university representative in the Student Service Center. The center is located at the Welcome Center, 42 W. Warren Ave on the 1st floor.

  • If you receive an email that indicates that your active mailing address is incorrect or incomplete. Please review the information in WSU Pipeline and update it accordingly. To verify, log into WSU Pipeline and follow these steps:
