Winter Term 2012 - Instructor-Approved Withdrawal Period

Instructor approval is required to withdraw from classes beginning Monday, February 6, 2012 through Saturday, March 24, 2012.  To withdraw, log into WSU Pipeline and select "Withdraw from a Class" from the Student Self Service Menu. When you are finished, the instructor will assign the appropriate withdrawal mark.
Registration for Frederick C. Neff Memorial Lecture: Enrich Your Life: The Expressive Therapies Continuum as a Path to Living Well

The Expressive Therapies Continuum (ETC) offers a way to understand how people have the abilities to take in, process, and share information through six equally important channels.  Usually people only use a small portion of these abilities and find their lives constricted and their self-expression stifled.  This lecture offers easy ways to increase your awareness, open all ETC channels, and enrich your life.   This lecture should be of interest to art therapists, artists, psychologists, counselors, social workers, teachers, graduate level students, and others would like to learn more about visual media or who are interested  in understanding and developing personal awareness and self-expression. Lecture is on April 20th, 6:00pm-7:30pm Dr. Hinz’ book, Expressive Therapies Continuum: A Framework for using Art in Therapy  will be available at Marwil’s Bookstore, 4870 Cass Avenue, 832-3078.
Call for Papers for 2nd Issue of African American Learners

ISAAC is pleased to issue a Call for Papers for the 2nd issue of African American Learners, Journal of the Institute for the Study of the African American Child (ISAAC), College of Education, Wayne State University.  All papers can be submitted through the ISAAC web site at:  www.isaac.wayne.edu through the Manuscript Submissioin button on the Homepage.  Aim and Scope of the Journal in addition to Guidelines for submission of manuscripts can be found on the web site on the research/journal page.  African American Learners is a peer reviewed journal that will appear in April and October of each year.  The deadline for the October 30, 2012 issue is July 15, 2012.

Details at doso.wayne.edu/studentsenate What is Student Senate? A representative body of students (14 elected and 14 appointed) whose goals are to enhance campus life by acting as a liaison between WSU students and administration. Petitions will be available starting Monday, January 23 in the Dean of Students Office, 351 Student Center. 
Department of English Writing Contests

The Department of English is now accepting submissions for its 2012 Writing Contests.  The writing contests are open to all WSU students.  Students are encouraged to submit writing entries in the genres of poetry, drama, fiction, and essay to the Department of English Main Office at 5057 Woodward, suite 9408 by Friday, February 17, 2012 (by 5:00 p.m.).  Applications are available in the Department of English or online at www.clas.wayne.edu/English.
