Biography:

 Jennifer Mendez, Ph.D. In 2007, Dr. Mendez came to Detroit to join the faculty of the School of Medicine as an Assistant Professor in the Clinician Educator track. In the last sixteen years since then, she quickly distinguished herself reaching her present rank as Associate Professor Emeritus.

 Her roots are in Karachi, Pakistan with completion of her Masters degree in Manila, Philippines, and her Ph.D. at Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Dr. Mendez is a Canadian resident with a steadfast commitment to the city of Detroit and Wayne State School of Medicine by commuting regularly across the border. She is a champion for international students and a strong advocate for networking in the community. Dr. Mendez has established partnerships Detroit Metro area and beyond for physicians in training, particularly in the realm of Service Learning and the community engagement elective programs. She is known for her prolific and enthusiastic work with older adults to enhance geriatrics and gerontology opportunities for interprofessional students.

Dr. Mendez’s research and scholarly work aligns with her passion for the community projects she seeks to develop. She has an insatiable enthusiasm and unparalleled ability to leave an indelible imprint on thousands of medical students and their collective service has had a lasting impact on the city of Detroit.
