1 p.m.
Keynote Speaker: Dr. Terrell Strayhorn
Finding Your "Why" as a Way to Academic and Personal Success
In this keynote, Dr. Terrell Strayhorn, will lead students in an engaging discussion and thought provoking exercises that will empower them to “Find Their Why" and better understand their purpose and how that might shape their path and pace in college and beyond. Dr. Strayhorn is Director of the Center for Higher Education Enterprise at The Ohio State University, where he is also Professor of Higher Education in the Department of Educational Studies within the College of Education and Human Ecology.

Success sessions are tailored to provide you with information to support you in the classroom and help build your connections around WSU. 

4:30 p.m.
Commuter Student Celebration
Join us in General Lectures 100 for a celebration of our commuter students! Recieve your commuter student survival pack and see a performance of No Zebras, No Excuses. 

5:30 p.m.
Dinner and Warrior UpRoar
Join us for a picnic dinner on the Tom Adams football field. Celebrate the beginning of your Wayne State Career by decorating your own Warrior t-shirt and participate in fun Wayne State Athletic activities with our student athletes.  

Tuesday, August 30

10 a.m.
New Student Convocation on front steps of McGregor
Convocation is the formal welcome to the university. Parents and family members do not need to RSVP to attend with their new WSU Warrior. The ceremony celebrates the beginning of the class of 2019’s academic career and will be held on the Max. J. Pincus Court in front of the McGregor Memorial Conference Center.

11:00 a.m.       
Festifall picnic, Gullen Mall
The Festifall picnic will begin immediately following the ceremony on the Keast Commons/Fountain Court area. During the event, students will have the opportunity to meet the Dean of his/her college or school. Various learning communities and student organizations will also be hosting kick-off activities.
