Changes in WSU licensing offer more ways to show your Warrior pride

Wayne State University has recently updated its licensing process, which now includes an exclusive agreement with Learfield Licensing Partners to manage the production of official Wayne State merchandise.

While other agencies were considered, Learfield was ultimately selected because its programs and business plan align naturally with the university’s regional brand and goals, according to WSU licensing director Amy Roberge-Heitman, who also serves as marketing coordinator.

“The changes to the licensing program will create more ways to show your Warrior pride,” Roberge-Heitman said. “You’ll be able to purchase a greater variety of merchandise and you’ll be able to do so in more stores.”

While the Wayne State University Bookstore is the largest retailer with the most robust selection of Warrior gear, WSU merchandise can also be purchased at an increasing number of off-campus retailers, including Campus Den, Bed Bath and Beyond, and select Rally House and Dunham’s locations.

In addition to a growing number of retail partners, Roberge-Heitman said merchandise categories will also be expanded to include more youth apparel, tailgate accessories, household goods and automotive accessories.

The partnership with Learfield also offers benefits to groups on campus who are interested in producing WSU-branded apparel or other items. All merchandising activity – whether it’s intended for resale, fundraising or a giveaway – must be sourced through a licensed vendor.

A licensed vendor streamlines the ordering process, often offers the most competitive wholesale pricing, and assures that a percentage of the merchandise’s price supports WSU. Working with a licensed vendor also guarantees high-quality products that properly use the Wayne State name and trademarks.

You can choose from a full list of licensed vendors including Club Colors and Promoversity, who offer the added convenience of working though the WSU Bookstore.

If you would like to order from a non-licensed vendor, you must submit a waiver request before placing an order to be in compliance with the new policies.

“It’s our hope that as the licensing program continues to grow, we’ll be able to support Wayne State to a much greater extent through both increased Warrior pride and revenue,” said Roberge-Heitman.
