Wayne State police crime statistics report shows declines, details recent incidents
December 18, 2012
There were fewer larcenies, vehicle thefts, aggravated assaults and sex offenses at Wayne State University in the first ten months of 2012 than there were through October of 2011, according to new crime statistics released Monday. The number of robberies in that time frame slightly increased from 22 to 24, while the same number of burglaries, 17, occurred through October in both 2011 and 2012, according to a Wayne State Police crime report sent to students this week. The drop in larcenies was the most significant change. There were 162 on campus in the first 10 months of 2012, down from 208 through October of last year. Vehicle thefts were down to 40 from 45 a year ago, and there were no aggravated assaults reported through October this year, compared to three last year.
