Mid-Year Training

The Mid-Year Progress Review is part of the process to ensure a dialogue occurs between the supervisor and employee on the status of the performance expectations. Keep in mind, there should be continuous dialogue throughout the year…but the mid-year is a formal structured meeting so that at least one conversation takes place on the status of the performance and development objectives.  This helps to ensure that there are no surprises during Phase III:  The Final Assessment.

The employee needs to update the status of his/her objectives by including:

  • Accomplishments
  • Barriers
  • Rationale for changing any part of the objectives

The supervisor needs to review the status of the employee's objectives and confirm original objective or agree to change the actual objective.  Any changes need to be documented in the status.  The supervisor should plan to use the Supervisor's Comments on Part A and Part C of the form noting the date of comment as an overall summary of the mid-year status of the employee.

The employee should feel free to add comments in the Employee's Comments on Part A and Part C of the form.

To assist you with this process, below are two online training resources:

  1. A demonstration on how to complete the Wayne LEADS form for Phase II

  1. An elearning module that includes sample scenarios of objectives which give you the opportunity to complete a status update and then the ability to compare your answer to the submitted status.  The intent of this module is to provide you with practice on preparing status updates for your Mid Year Progress Review
    • When you enter the module, you will have a menu page with four scenarios listed so you can practice on four different types of objectives.  Three scenariios are focused on performance objectives and one is a development objective

    • You can start with any scenario and complete the scenarios in any order.  Once each scenario is completed, click continue to get back to the menu page with the four choices
