Q: Is WSU's campus safe?
The campus is very safe. Police officers are on duty 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. In addition, there are more than 140 blue light emergency phones across campus and in every elevator. Visit our WSU Police Department Website for more information.

Q: What is the WSU OneCard?
Your WSU OneCard is a multipurpose identification and debit card. It is a convenient, easy-to-use card designed to provide students, faculty and staff with access to a wide variety of campus services. The WSU OneCard offers a "cashless" environment to its cardholders by debiting funds from their accounts. The card can be used for parking, door access, copying and printing services, as well as food and bookstore purchases. For more information, visit the OneCard website .

Q: Is the Recreation and Fitness Center open to all students?
Yes. The $25 annual fee is included in your tuition payments.

Q: What kinds of organizations and activities does WSU have?
WSU offers more than 200 fraternities, sororities and professional, honorary, cultural and religious student organizations. Contact the Dean of Students Office at (313) 577-1010 for more information.

Q: Are there residential facilities on campus?
Wayne State University has three residence halls and numerous on-campus apartments. For more information, contact the Office of Housing and Residential Life at (313) 577-2116 or click here.

Q: Do I have to purchase a meal plan if I'm applying to the residence halls?
A meal plan is included in the cost of living in the residence halls. The meal plan is mandatory and may not be deducted from the cost.

Q: Can I purchase a meal plan if I don't live in the Residence Hall?
Yes. Students and staff may purchase 5-, 7- or 10-day meal/week plans. For pricing and further information, contact the Office of Housing and Residential Life at (313) 577-2116.

Q: Can I have pets in the Residence Hall?
You may have up to a 10-gallon fish tank for fish only. Piranhas are prohibited. No other pets are allowed in the residence hall, including other pets that may live in a 10-gallon tank.

Q: How do I get tickets for athletic events?
Tickets can be purchased in room 211 of the Student Center Building. Click here to view ticket prices. Contact the ticket office toll free at 1-866-WSU-TIKS.

Q: What kinds of sports or athletics are available?
Men's sports are football, hockey, basketball, baseball, cross country, fencing, golf, tennis and swimming. Women's sports are hockey, volleyball, basketball, softball, cross country, fencing, swimming and tennis.

Q: If students are not recruited to join a sports team, can they still try out?
Yes. It is up to the individual team to announce tryouts and select team members. Contact the Athletic Department or at (313) 577-4280 if you are interested in participating in athletics.

Q: Are athletic scholarships available? What are the criteria?
Yes. It is up to individual coaches to award scholarships.

Q: Are part-time jobs available on or around campus?
Yes, part-time jobs are available on campus. To find out more, contact Career Services at (313) 577-3390 or visit the Career Services Website.

Q: Are there job placement or career days?
Yes. Contact Career Services at (313) 577-3390 for specific days and times.

Q: What are the hours of the bookstore?
The bookstore is open Monday-Thursday from 8:30 a.m. to 7 p.m., Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Bookstore hours may vary during fall and winter rushes, the summer and holidays. It is always best to call ahead. The bookstore's phone number is (313) 577-2438.

Q: What are the hours of the Undergraduate Library?
The library is open Monday-Thursday from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m., Friday from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m., Saturday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. In addition, there is a 24-hour study center available to WSU students with a valid OneCard.

Q: What are the other library hours?

Q: Do students have access to computers?
Yes. There are more than 500 computers in the Undergraduate Library alone.

Q: Is there a laptop requirement for incoming students?
No, not at this time.
