Entry guidelines

Bag policy

Bags, purses and clutches larger than 4" x 6" x 1.5" are prohibited. Single compartment bags, wallets and clutches smaller than 4" x 6" x 1.5" with or without a handle strap are permitted. Exceptions to this policy include: Bags, wallets and clutches needed due to medical necessity. Medical necessity include diaper bags, breast pumps, oxygen, Insulin, Epi-pens and other medical devices. Authorized diaper and medical bags are required to be smaller than 14" x 14" x 6". 

Prohibited items

The Wayne State Fieldhouse reserves the right to expand or modify the list of prohibited items at any time. This policy is strictly enforced. The following items are not permitted in the Wayne State Fieldhouse.

  • Alcohol and tobacco
  • Aerosol Cans
  • Animals (except ADA compliant service animals or service animals in training)
  • All bags and purses, apart from medical bags, diaper bags or strollers
  • Bags, purses and clutches larger than 4" x 6" x 1.5" are prohibited.
  • Banners 
  • Any device that may interfere with and/or distract a patron, audio or audio/visual telecast or recording of the event or any technology-related service provided in the facility
  • Beach balls or other inflatable items, blow horns, megaphones and all other distracting noisemakers
  • Outside food or beverage
  • Fireworks, Firearms, or other weapons
  • Fishing nets or poles
  • Frisbees
  • Glass, cans, and plastic bottles
  • Guest who are or appear to be intoxicated and/or unmanageable will not be permitted into the facilities
  • Hard-sided cups, thermos, or coolers
  • Knives or any size, shape, or variety (box cutters, scissors, etc.)
  • Marijuana or illegal narcotics, including accessories or paraphernalia associated with marijuana or illegal narcotics use
  • Markers and paint
  • Helmets or any costume items that cover the face
  • Skateboards, rollerblades, hoverboards, segways, scooters, and bicycles
  • Squirt guns of any kind
  • Sticks, including signs attached to sticks
  • Stools or folding chairs (seat cushions are permissible)
  • Unmanned aerial vehicle (i.e. drones)

Reentry policy

Once admitted, no ticket holder shall be permitted to leave and reenter the stadium. Season ticket holders are held responsible for the actions of any person(s) using their season ticket.

Guest seating

Guests should enter the fieldhouse at the main entrance. Guest seating is open and available on a first-come, first-served basis. Seats may not be saved. Please have everyone in your party arrive at the same time. University staff will assist guests with seating. All guests should be seated 30 minutes prior to the start of the ceremony and are expected to remain for the entire ceremony.

Wheelchair/mobility-limitation seating

The fieldhouse has limited wheelchair seating. Guests arriving in a wheelchair should ask a staff member for assistance to the special needs seating area. Guests with mobility limitations or who have difficulty walking are encouraged to bring their own wheelchair. The university does not provide wheelchairs for guests. Every effort will be made to seat guests together; however, disability seating is limited and, due to space constraints, an escort may not be able to accompany the guest to the special seating area.  

Interpreting services

Sign language interpreters will be provided during the ceremonies. Interpreters will not sign individual names during the diploma march.

Flowers

Commencement Flowers will have floral bouquets and gifts for your special graduate available for sale on the main concourse. You may pre-order floral bouquets and a commemorative T-shirt for pickup on commencement day.

First aid

First aid is available during all ceremonies. Please contact a staff member if assistance is needed.

Program book distribution

Program books will be available to guests through a QR code upon arrival. All graduates will receive a printed program on their seat.
