Diversity and inclusion

What is a Wayne State University Warrior? We're commuters and campus residents, full-time students and working professionals, faculty members and service staff, parents and grandparents, immigrants and athletes.

Here, you’ll find that diversity isn't a slogan. It's a reality that's woven into our mission and guides everything we do. You’ll learn and grow from an immersive educational experience where you can work alongside people from different countries, cultures and socioeconomic backgrounds in a microcosm of our interconnected world. This will give you a distinct advantage as you prepare to build a successful career in the complex global marketplace.

Our Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion is a unique resource dedicated to supporting students, faculty and the entire university community. Led by Chief Diversity Officer Donyale Padgett and home to the Office of Multicultural Student Engagement, this committed group of individuals is focused on sustaining Wayne State's inclusive campus and will help make sure that you’re living and learning in a safe, inclusive, equitable and supportive environment.
