Types of aid
Wayne State Guarantee
In partnership with the Michigan Achievement Scholarship, we are expanding our financial aid programs to include the Wayne State Guarantee, which provides tuition assistance for eligible students. We bridge the gap between Federal, State, and other WSU aid, and the full cost of tuition and standard fees. The Wayne State Guarantee is open to Michigan residents, with household income less than $70,000 and less than $50,000 in assets. All Pell Grant-eligible students will also receive this assistance. All first-time undergraduate students admitted to WSU for the fall 2024 semester by the award deadline will be considered for an award.
Tuition pledge programs
Wayne State University tuition pledge programs help make college more affordable. Undergraduate students who qualify will have zero out-of-pocket expenses for tuition and standard fees for up to four years of full-time study. Tuition pledge programs include the Heart of Detroit Tuition Pledge and the Born to Be a Warrior Tuition Pledge.
Scholarships
WSU colleges, schools and academic departments also offer a variety of scholarships based on a combination of criteria. New undergraduates will be considered for a merit award when we receive their admissions application. Our students often qualify for awards from external organizations, and we encourage the pursuit of all opportunities.
Students receiving scholarships, stipends, and fellowships can receive other federal and state aid provided the total amount awarded does not exceed the student's estimated cost of attendance.
